Update on lives :)

Soooo, we finally got over the milestone of doing our first solo concert! How did it go? It was awesome!! 🙂 We had a lot of fun and people were telling us how much they enjoyed it and appreciated it. It was great to see everyone who was able to come. Some of them from quite a distance. There were of course little quirks that happened, as it does at any and every performance, but we didn’t freak and we got through it all and had a great time.

In other news… the three of us younger ones are in a play put on by Encore! Theatre called Catacombs. Evelyn and I are acting in it and Gabrielle is the stage manager. Though she is filling in for one of the actresses that can’t make opening night. We are very excited about it. It has proved to be an intense but very powerful play. It’s about Christians who are hiding out in an abandoned church because of intense persecution. It asks the question, “are you willing to die for your faith?” Although it is a pretty serious play, there are some light hearted moments. We have enjoyed being involved in it immensely. Music wise, what are we doing? Well, we’re polishing up our music to do another concert at Solid Grounds. Unlike our concert at Hope, we will not be able to do our power point slideshow, 😦 but it will still be a fantastic time of sharing music, having fellowship with friends, and eating great food! 🙂 So please come if you can. We’d love to see you! The date is June 30, so save the date! I’m not sure on the time yet, but we’ll get those details to you as they come.

CD Undo Update

Hello everyone!
Well, I accidentally misunderstood my sisters…gotta love it when communication ceases to exist. So, here is what’s really happening with our CD.

Scratch tracks are done, and we’re hoping to start recording single tracks soon. However, we’re not sure if the CDs will be done by the concert…sorry. 😥 We will however, have a sign-up sheet if you want one, that way we can let you know when they’re ready for purchase. (yay) So sorry about the confusion.

CD Update

Hello!
So here’s an update on our CD. We have finished putting down the scratch tracks, and (hopefully) by the end of March, we’ll be done with all of the recordings. So hopefully, they will be ready by our concert. Thanks to everyone for your support in this endeavor, and an extra thanks goes to Dan, Jan (for helping us with the recording), Apo and Gramps (for providing space and delicious snacks :D), and Mark and Carol my parents.

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Happy St. Patty’s day everyone! However, as we are celebrating the day, I hope that you all take the time to think about the person who this day is named after.

St. Patrick. The man who was stolen from his homeland to become a slave in Ireland, escaped back to Britain, and then returned to the people who enslaved him to bring them the Gospel of Truth. We have turned the holiday into a time of drinking, partying, and more drinking. And although it’s great to have a fun time with family and friends, we shouldn’t forget what the day of St. Patrick should be about. So what kind of person was St. Patrick? Though much about his life is a mystery, from what we do know, he was a very humble person who loved, honored, and served God with all his heart. He trusted God in all areas and served those around him with/in God’s love.

So in what way can we honor God and life of this man who has been remembered over centuries of time? As he served those around him with selfless love, why don’t we look around us and see how we can serve those around us with the love of Christ? Look around you and see how you can bless someone else’s life in some way today wether it is big or small. Because in blessing them, you’re blessing yourself too. 🙂

Concert

Whoo hooo!!! It’s official! We are now officially on the calendar for our first Concert on April 14th at Hope Evangelical Free Church. It’s scheduled to start at 1 in the afternoon. We’re all very excited though at the same time it puts the pressure on even more. 🙂 So, whether we’re ready or not, we are booked! (we’re preferring to be ready) 😉 Sooooo…. save the date people! We would LOVE to see you all there! 🙂 Now if only we can get the CD done and ready before that…

New Year

Hey everyone! I sincerely apologize on how long it has been for us to post. Hopefully we’ll do better in the future.

Well I can’t believe it’s already February! It’s amazing how time flies! It seems like just yesterday we were finalizing our plans for Ireland and heading out. It makes me wish we could be headed out that way again! Lately we’ve all been keeping quite busy with work and music. We’re going full throttle trying to put together the concert and finish the cd. Which means we’re crazy busy trying to find the time in all our busy schedules to practice together and get all the songs solid. If you think of it, we would really appreciate the prayers to get everything done and in time! It’s getting down to the wire and we’re all feeling a little but frazzled and stressed. 🙂 We hope to see all of you at our first concert in April! Details on that to come in the near future.

Merry Christmas!

Well, our posts on Thankfulness are drawing to a close (not to worry, you can still comment on them if you like 🙂 ), so I would like to leave you with our final Thankfulness post.

Today, as I’m sure all of you know, is Christmas! And if your family is anything like my family, you tend to over-commit. On top of doing Celtic Christmas, we are also helping backstage with the musical Camelot, leading worship music at our church, and squeezing everything else in between. During all the chaos, I sometimes have to remind myself what Christmas is all about. It’s not about the presents, it’s not about carols, it’s not about the white snow (especially out here in the desert), and no, it’s not about Santa Claus. It’s about the Savior, Who came to earth, not because He had to, but because He wanted to. Who gave up all heavenly glories to come down here so that we could mock and ridicule Him on a cross, while He died for us. Christmas is about celebrating His birth. No, we may not have the day correct (does anyone but  God, in all honesty?), but we’ve set aside this day to be with family and friends to honor and remember His coming into this world as a tiny, helpless baby.

I’m so thankful for this time of year, because it allows us to remember what Jesus did. But through this next year, a challenge for you…treat everyday like Christmas (and Easter), in the aspect of taking the time each day to remember what Jesus did.

Snow!

Greetings my good friends!

If you live in the city of Albuquerque, then it appears to be that you are getting some snow. And so I want you to know that I am completely and utterly thankful for it. 😀 What could be better than millions of little love bits from God falling down all around me? Not to metion it’s fun to eat, great to sled in, and even more fun to have a snowball fight. 🙂 If you get snow on a regular basis during the winter, then have a blast with it! Here in the desert it doesn’t come too often. And when it does, it tends to melt within 15 minutes. (Not this time though, thank God! 😀 ) If you’re one of those people who doens’t like snow, then I hope you live in someplace warm like Florida. In which case, enjoy the heat and humidity. 🙂 But if you’re like me and love snow with a great passion, then get outside and enjoy it. 🙂

It Is Cold!

Which in most places of the world, cold translates into snow. But alas, it is not the case here in Albuquerque. And yet, the desert is still beautiful and I am thankful to be here. I am thankful to be alive, to be able to move around easily (despite the chill), and so very thankful for neighbors and friends and who look out for us. There are many others who struggle with much more than I ever have and their calm, motivated perseverance inspires me to do the same with any of the little annoyances I find hampering my day. To help keep my attitude up, I find myself surrounded by fantastic people who choose to live each day purposefully, cheerfully, realistically, and with hope. These heroes don’t think of themselves as such, but the impact they daily have in my life is enormous. And in response, I try my best to let those people know who they are and thank them for it.

Last Christmas, our entire extended family decided to help us out due to my Dad needing emergency brain surgery in California. Instead of exchanging presents that year, they focused entirely on us and made our Christmas season very special. We felt loved, very well cared for, constantly watched over, and never had a want. And to top it off, Mom and Dad did make it back home just in time for Christmas day. This is one Christmas memory that will never leave me, nor can I ever repay the family enough for all their kindnesses over the years.

Another item that continuously gets me excited are the new Concert prospects this next spring. We are just wrapping up Celtic Christmas (come out to Faith Lutheran this Sunday at 6:30 for a great holiday tradition!) and already now booking JUBALation’s next 2012 Concert Series for March and April. As this next year rolls on up, new music and new ideas come together–we are so excited to share this new upcoming season with you! We strongly believe there are artists at heart out there just like us who want to make a definite positive mark within our communities, initiating honor, life, and integrity. We want to encourage YOU; to remind YOU that YOU are working toward a great thing.

One final update: though there are numerous Burns Night activities going on in January, we are no longer available to be hired for that holiday. Enjoy and have a safe night!
